Day 69 & 70
September 13th & 14th, 2007 |
From Salina to Richfield, via Fillmore, Utah.
Back on the track. After the emotion filled last few days, it's nice to have a couple
of more relaxed days. So, do like we do, relax enjoy the scenery and have fun!
As stunning as always!
Just one of the many cattle gates that we open and then close behind us...
Great signing! You can't go wrong. Everywhere on the Paiute system, trails are easy to
follow and you always know where you are. Cool!
Mountain riding: Never a flat moment! Either you go up or you come down...
We try a new game...Going downhill with the engine shut...The only thing we hear is the
sound of the tires rolling down the hill...And the 1001 rings and dings from the gear
rattling...Of course, no engine means no engine braking so, careful not to pick-up too
much speed...Don't try that at home, kids!!
Youhou! Honey! Wait for meeee!
Utah, put on her automn dress.
Tonight, we found the perfect spot to camp just out of Fillmore (there's actually a few
very nice spots):
-Near a stream.
-Lots of firewood available around.
-No mosquitoes.
-In the middle of nowhere.
Yeah ! Inviting trails!
|
It is soooo nice to travel when you just have to follow the
signs on the trail and when you're welcome in all the towns you come across. Thanks ! |
Bof... |
2nd flat tire... |
|
At the rythm of one every 1500 miles, I'd say it's
reasonnable... |
|
|
A very interesting section of trail. The Fillmore loop on the Paiute system. We ride
down in a canyon...
...And we cross a stream about 10 times. Fun !
|
At the canyon exit, we hit a paved road where this sign welcomes us. We're
in Fillmore Ut. |
This has nothing to do with the story! C'mon
hon! We're goin' campin'... |
|
|
A sure fire way to limit access to 50 inches wide vehicules... |

A second flat tire in close to 3000 miles...Not bad...
What's funny is, both times, it happened on the same tire! |
The foliage color (red) reminds us of home... In Québec, the real quadding season will
begin soon (winter).
The color of dirt (red) on the other hand, is totally different from
home... |
|
...Where as the color of water (red...)... |
|
Welcome to Richfield. The quad Mecca. Home of the largest quad gathering in western US.
Tonight we sleep in a quiet spot with a view on the town. Tomorrow, Richfield.
With The Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree in town, there'll be a lot of people, a lot of action
and, probably a lot of questions...This is going to be fun! But, for now, we enjoy our
solitude.
Good night...See you tomorrow...
